Learning spaces - currently unavailable

As of 12/04: virtual learning space...

We are currently receiving an increasing number of inquiries about the use of learning spaces in the library.

The University Executive Board has informed all students and staff that the current regulations regarding the pandemic will be extended until the start of summer classes on 12/04. This means, among other things, that there are currently no learning spaces available on the entire campus – including the library.

Just like the University Executive Board, we would like to allow access to learning spaces, infection levels permitting.

We know how difficult the situation is for everyone involved. This also applies to the library staff. For the past 12 months, we have been constantly reorganizing our work in response to the changing pandemic conditions and rules. We are working hard to ensure that literature is also made available to those who are unable to visit the library.

We have licensed additional electronic resources at a cost of 1 million euros. We have introduced a copy delivery service and send books home to those who cannot visit the library for health reasons. Customer service staff provide information and advice by phone and mail. All information literacy classes have been converted to digital formats. We have created instructional videos and on 05/03 the "Write Night" was successfully held in a virtual format for the first time ever.

We are well aware of the importance of the library as a learning space, especially for students. We very much hope that regular library services and thus also the use of our workstations will resume as soon as possible.

The Executive Boards of the Bremen universities and the head of the State and University Library are working together with the Senator for Science and Ports to find solutions which minimize the risk of infection for students and staff while taking into account the needs of students.

As soon as there is new information, we will of course inform you.
